What is in the pack?
The Bosca Óir holds a grey security bag, small zip bags for individual pieces, a one-page guide and a prepaid, tracked, insured return label addressed to us in Dublin. You add your gold, seal the security bag, put it in the outer box and hand it in at any An Post office.
What can go in the standard pack?
Gold jewellery and scrap within the insured limit: rings, chains, earrings, broken pieces, dental gold, most watches with the movement out. Bullion bars do not go by post. Coins and silver lots start on WhatsApp. Full list on what we buy and in the postal terms.
How it works
Request a free postal pack
Fill in the short form at liffeymetals.com/sell/post and verify your email. The free Bosca Óir pack arrives by An Post with a security bag, a prepaid insured return label and a one-page guide. Gold worth roughly 300 to 2,000 euro goes straight through; larger lots are handled in person in Dublin by appointment.
Post it from any An Post office
Seal the items in the security bag, hand the parcel in at any An Post office and keep the proof of postage. The label is prepaid, tracked and insured, and once An Post scans it the parcel travels at our risk up to 2,000 euro. It usually reaches us in Dublin the next working day.
We weigh and XRF test it on camera
Every piece is weighed on a calibrated scale and tested on an XRF analyser, which reads the metal's composition without damaging it. The opening and testing are recorded, and your itemised offer lists each piece, its weight, its grade and the published price per gram applied. The offer stays open for 48 hours.
Accept the price and get paid by bank transfer
Accept and we pay by bank transfer the same working day, less 12 euro return postage at cost, waived when the parcel's melt value is over 500 euro. Decline and everything comes back to you free by tracked post. One valid photo ID is checked before any payment.

Questions people ask
Is it safe to post gold in Ireland?
With our prepaid tracked label, yes. Once An Post scans the parcel it travels at our risk up to 2,000 euro per parcel. You keep proof of postage. Our postal terms set out what happens if a parcel is lost in transit.
How long does posting gold take?
An Post usually delivers to us in Dublin the next working day each way. We open, weigh and test on arrival and send an itemised offer within a working day. Payment is by bank transfer the same day you accept.
What is the minimum and maximum I can post?
Gold worth roughly 300 to 2,000 euro goes through the standard pack. Below the minimum, message us on WhatsApp. Above the cap, we arrange in person in Dublin or a split lot.
Do I pay for the pack or the postage?
The pack and outbound post to you are free. If you sell, return postage is deducted at cost unless the melt value is over the waiver threshold on the prices page. If you decline, everything comes back free.
Can I post coins or silver in the same pack?
Gold jewellery and scrap go in the standard request. Silver, mixed lots, platinum and bullion start with a WhatsApp message so the right packaging and cover go out.
What ID do you need?
One valid photo ID before payment, checked separately. Never post ID documents in the parcel.
