Silver refining in Ireland

Refine your silver with us in Dublin or by insured post from anywhere in Ireland. Sterling, coin silver and scrap come back to you as 999 grain or a bar, minus our 15% fee on the fine content, taken in metal. No cash fee, no invoice.

What silver we refine

Sterling (925) cutlery, canteens, tea sets, trays and jewellery, Britannia (958), coin silver (900), continental (800) and workshop scrap. Everything is weighed and XRF tested on intake, so unmarked pieces and mixed lots are no problem: you get the fine content figures before anything is refined.

Worked example: a sterling canteen

You send a 2 kg canteen of sterling cutlery (92.5%).

Refining silver, question by question

Where can I refine silver in Ireland?

We refine silver in Dublin and take lots from anywhere in Ireland by insured post. Tell us it is a refining lot, post it or drop it in, and we return 999 silver grain or a bar to you.

What silver can be refined?

Sterling (925) cutlery, canteens, tea sets and jewellery, Britannia (958), coin silver (900), continental (800) and workshop scrap. Fine content is measured by XRF on intake, so unmarked and mixed lots are fine.

What does silver refining cost?

One fee: 15% of the fine silver content, taken in metal. There is no cash charge and no invoice. Send 100 g of sterling and you get 78.6 g of 999 silver back.

Is silver plate worth refining?

No. The silver layer on EPNS and other plated items is so thin that the recoverable silver is negligible. We will tell you that plainly rather than take the lot.

Can I sell the silver instead of refining it?

Yes, at our published buy price, paid by bank transfer. See the silver page for today's price per gram.

Full details of the process, grain versus bar and our fee are on the main refining page. Refining gold too? See gold refining in Ireland. Rather sell than refine? See sell silver.
