Wrong Weight Guarantee
If our weight or carat reading is ever wrong, we pay you double the difference.
The whole guarantee, in plain English. No small print anywhere else.
- What we promise
- Every item we buy is weighed on a calibrated scale and tested on an XRF analyser, on camera. If the weight or the carat we recorded for your item turns out to be wrong, and the correct figure would have meant a higher price, we pay you double the difference between what you were paid and what you should have been paid.
- An example
- Say we recorded a chain as 9ct and paid you 100 euro. You show it was 14ct and the correct price on the day was 150 euro. The difference is 50 euro. We pay you 100 euro.
- How to claim
- Email andrew@liffeymetals.com or WhatsApp us with your Bosca Óir number or offer reference and tell us what you think is wrong. You do not need a report from anyone else to raise a claim. If you have one, send it along.
- How we check
- We re-weigh and re-test the item ourselves, on camera, and send you that video too. If the item has already been refined, we rely on the original video, our XRF log and the scale record for that day. Where an independent assay is needed to settle it, we pay for the assay.
- Time limit
- Raise a claim within 30 days of the date you were paid. After that the metal has usually been refined and we cannot re-test it.
- What is covered
- The weight in grams and the carat or fineness we recorded for each item, as shown on your offer. The price per gram is set off the live London market at the time of the offer and is not part of this guarantee.
- What is not covered
- Stones, mechanisms, non-metal parts and anything we told you we were excluding from the weight. Items where the difference is within the stated tolerance of our scale, which is 0.05 grams, or within the XRF analyser's stated margin for that alloy. Items you have altered since we returned them.
- Payment
- We pay the doubled difference by bank transfer to the account we paid you from, within five working days of agreeing the claim.
- Your rights
- This guarantee is in addition to your rights under Irish consumer law and does not limit them.
