Post from Cork, paid at Dublin's published rates

Sell gold in Cork

Cork uses the same prices as Dublin: 34.20 euro per gram for 9ct, 73.60 euro for 18ct, live as of 26 Oct, 12:03 Dublin time. Request the free pack, post from any An Post office in Cork, and we test in Dublin, usually the next working day after posting. Eighteenth-century Cork silversmiths often stamped STERLING or STERG beside their maker's mark rather than sending work to Dublin for assay. A Cork mark is tested like any other: the piece is weighed and paid on its silver at the published sterling rate per gram.

How it works

  1. Request a free postal pack

Fill in the short form at liffeymetals.com/sell/post and verify your email. The free Bosca Óir pack arrives by An Post with a security bag, a prepaid insured return label and a one-page guide. Gold worth roughly 300 to 2,000 euro goes straight through; larger lots are handled in person in Dublin by appointment.

  2. Post it from any An Post office

Seal the items in the security bag, hand the parcel in at any An Post office and keep the proof of postage. The label is prepaid, tracked and insured, and once An Post scans it the parcel travels at our risk up to 2,000 euro. It usually reaches us in Dublin the next working day.

  3. We weigh and XRF test it on camera

Every piece is weighed on a calibrated scale and tested on an XRF analyser, which reads the metal's composition without damaging it. The opening and testing are recorded, and your itemised offer lists each piece, its weight, its grade and the published price per gram applied. The offer stays open for 48 hours.

  4. Accept the price and get paid by bank transfer

Accept and we pay by bank transfer the same working day, less 12 euro return postage at cost, waived when the parcel's melt value is over 500 euro. Decline and everything comes back to you free by tracked post. One valid photo ID is checked before any payment.

Questions people ask

Can I sell gold in Cork without travelling to Dublin?

Yes. Request the free insured pack online, post from any An Post office in Cork, and keep proof of postage. The published price per gram is the same as in Dublin; only the post timing differs.

How long does post from my area take?

An Post usually delivers to us in Dublin the next working day once the parcel is scanned in. We open and test on arrival and send an itemised offer within a working day.

What is the postal insurance limit?

Each parcel is covered up to 2,000 euro once tracking shows it accepted with our prepaid label. Larger lots can be brought in person by appointment from 1,000 euro.

Is there a Liffey Metals shop in Cork?

We do not operate a public counter. Gold from your county is opened and tested in Dublin, either after you post with the free pack or by appointment if the lot is large enough.

Where do I see today's price per gram?

On this page and on liffeymetals.com/prices, refreshed through the day. The figure on your offer is fixed when you accept it after XRF testing.

Is the Cork county page different from this one?

This page is about selling gold in Cork specifically. The county page at /sell/cork covers gold, silver and jewellery together with the same live prices.
