Sell scrap gold in Dublin and across Ireland

We buy scrap gold of every carat for its metal content, at the net prices per gram published on this page. Broken chains, odd earrings, snapped rings, dental gold and unhallmarked pieces are sorted and XRF tested on camera, and you get an itemised offer the same day. Post it free and insured from any county in Ireland, or bring larger lots to Dublin by appointment; paid by bank transfer the same day you accept.

Open now: 24 hours a day, every day. WhatsApp messages usually answered within the hour.

Who this is for

The drawer of odds and ends

A broken chain, the earring without its pair, a ring that no longer fits, a watch case. Small pieces add up: a typical mixed bag of 9ct is 20 to 40 grams.

Inherited or cleared-out jewellery

Boxes from a house clearance or an estate, often mixed carats and some plated pieces among them. We sort it, test it and list every piece in the offer.

Dentists, jewellers and repairers

Dental gold, bench sweeps, findings and lemel. Small lots are bought by the gram; larger trade lots go through refining.

What we do

Every piece is weighed on a calibrated scale and tested on an XRF analyser, on camera. The reading gives the carat; the carat gives the price per gram; the two together give the line in your offer. Stones, steel springs, watch movements and solder are weighed out, so you are paid for gold and not for what is attached to it.

Plated, rolled and gold-filled items are identified at the same step and set aside: we tell you rather than making a token offer for them. Anything collectable, a sovereign or a signed piece, is flagged as worth more than its melt value rather than melted.

How it works, and how long it takes

  1. Step 1

    Request the free pack

A prepaid, insured Bosca Óir postal pack to any address in the Republic of Ireland. An Post delivers the Bosca Óir to your door, usually the next working day.

  2. Step 2

Fill it, seal it, post it

Put everything in, plated pieces and all; we sort it. Hand it in at any post office and keep the receipt: it travels at our risk from the scan.

  3. Step 3

Sorted, weighed and tested on camera within 24 hours of arrival

You receive the video and an itemised offer: each piece, its carat, its weight and the rate applied.

  4. Step 4

Paid the same day you accept, or returned free

Bank transfer the same working day. Decline and everything, plated pieces included, comes back by tracked post at no cost.

How the price is worked out

Weight in grams, times the published net price per gram for the carat the piece tests at. The board below is that price list: 9ct through 24ct, priced off the live London gold price less our margin, with nothing deducted afterwards. A 20 g bag of mixed 9ct is twenty times the 9ct figure; a 4 g 18ct ring is four times the 18ct figure.

The calculator does the sum for any weight and carat.

Questions people ask

What counts as scrap gold?
Anything bought for its metal rather than as a piece: broken chains and bracelets, single earrings, snapped rings, watch cases without the movement, findings and clasps, dental crowns and bridges, bent or dented items, and anything unhallmarked. A piece in good condition is still priced the same way: on weight and carat.
How much is scrap gold worth per gram in Ireland today?
It depends on the carat. Today's net figures for 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct and 24ct are on the board on this page and on liffeymetals.com/prices, priced off the live London market and refreshed through the day. There are no testing or handling fees deducted after the fact.
Do you buy gold with no hallmark?
Yes. Every piece is XRF tested, which reads the alloy without damaging it, so a missing or worn hallmark does not stop a deal. Unmarked gold is priced on the carat it tests at.
Do you buy dental gold?
Yes. Crowns, bridges and inlays are usually a 16ct to 18ct alloy with palladium and silver; the XRF reading sets the price. Porcelain and any tooth material are weighed out. Rinse them and send them as they are.
What about gold-plated or gold-filled items?
Plated and rolled gold have too little gold to buy by the gram: a thin layer over brass or steel. The XRF test shows it immediately and we tell you rather than making a token offer. Marks like GP, GF, 1/20 12K or rolled gold mean plated.
Should I sort my scrap by carat before sending it?
You can, but you do not have to. We sort and test every piece on camera and the offer lists each one with its carat and weight. If you want a rough idea first, group what you can read: 375 is 9ct, 585 is 14ct, 750 is 18ct, 916 is 22ct.
Can I bring scrap gold to Dublin in person?
Yes, by appointment, for lots worth more than the in-person threshold on the sell page. Smaller lots go in the free insured postal pack. The price per gram is the same either way.
